The cult distillery trend has blossomed in Sonoma County...
I'm still getting to know it myself, so this list is stark.
But there's no word-of-mouth referring on this site. I have spent time at each and every place I recommend.
And you'll want to hire a driver (see this page) for a distillery-tasting-day.
I could barely handle two stops...!

This place is so cool. You HAVE to go here.
It's quintessential Healdsburg and it's an authentic spirit tasting.
It's run entirely by a small crew of three people: Husband, wife and assistant distiller.
Not only will you thoroughly enjoy yourself, but you'll likely get to taste with and learn from the head distiller himself.
It's so incredibly charming and awesome.
They make 3 whiskies, 2 bitters a gin and some other cool spirits. All are ridic. And all are made onsite.

Young & Yonder Spirits
A beautiful space for handcrafted spirits by a husband & wife + step-brother team.
You'll seriously want to hang out here and just enjoy the ambience.
BONUS: Their spirits taste great too!
They also offer a seasonal, craft cocktail in addition to their tasting.

Spirit Works Distillery
Imagine a super legit spirit distillery...then realize it's made and run by a staff of mostly ladies.
What you get is a well thought out tasting room and experience, and a really neat story.
They produce a vodka, several gins, a gin-whiskey and a couple whiskeys on site. But sloe-gin put them on the (spirit) map.
It's located in The Barlow in Sebastopol. So you can dedicate a good chunk of your day in this 'hood.
Tasting: Wednesday-Sunday from 11am-5pm (no appointment necessary)
